The Table Mountain National Park encompasses the incredibly scenic Table Mountain Chain stretching from Signal Hill in the north to Cape Point in the south and the seas and coastline of the peninsula. The narrow finger of land with its beautiful valleys, bays and beaches is surrounded by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean in the west and the warmer waters of False Bay and has within its boundaries two world-renowned landmarks - the majestic Table Mountain and the legendary Cape of Good Hope.
Our next stop is at Hout Bay, which was formerly a fishing village and has managed to maintain its unique combination of fishing harbour and country atmosphere, despite development. Its long, sandy beach faces a bay framed by mountains and is quite simply, exceptionally beautiful! Capetonians throng here over weekends to partake of the local fish & chips and to catch a glimpse of the resident Cape seals that make the harbour their home. This harbour also serves as a departure point for boat charters to view Duiker Island, better known as Seal Island, which is well known for its enormous colony of Cape fur seals and seagulls. The boat cruise is optional.
We stop for lunch at the Fish Hoek Galley or similar (Lunch is for your own account.)
A visit to the world-renowned Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens is a pleasant stop in the afternoon. This is the largest of South Africa's eight National Botanical Gardens and is considered one of the 'Seven Magnificent Botanical Gardens of the World.' Located in the western part of the country in the Cape Town area, it contains a unique collection of southern African plants and includes many rare and endangered species. Cultivated areas filled with fynbos, proteas, cycads and African succulents are divided by rolling lawns, streams and ponds, and winding pathways for easy walking.
Also included, is a visit to Simonstown and Constantia.
